People will get sick all year long but wintertime seems to be especially rough on the immune system. There is often a reason that the winter season is dubbed "flu season." The colder conditions, the harsher conditions-they all help with a weakened immune system. It's very difficult to drive back a flu when you're battling to stay warm. The insufficient access to fresh air and being compelled to spend the majority of your time indoors where it is stuffy can make it very difficult for your body to keep a cold from setting in. Cold and flu germs seem to increase a lot faster in a home that has closed windows all day. Here are some things that can be done to further improve your immune system.



Regular exercise is important. Regular and reliable exercise could make you sweat and increase your endorphin levels. Regular exercise can help you stay in good physical shape while sustaining your weight and it strengthens your immune system at the same time. The endorphins that will rise through your whole body don't just help keep your mood elevated during the cold and dark months of winter. They help a person's immune system keep vitalized and that makes it easier to keep infections from setting in. There are actually scientific tests done that state people who exercise five out of seven days a week take half as much sick time as people who don't get that same level of exercise in the winter.

Go obtain a massage. Do you really have to have an excuse to treat yourself to a morning of pampering? Swedish therapeutic massage, particularly, has been confirmed to help the body fight off illnesses. Massages can help raise your blood circulation and will activate the cells that are most beneficial in keeping cold and flu germs from infecting the body. You may be tempted to lock yourself off from social contact for a few weeks.
